Perce, QC

The town of Perce in Quebec was a delightful surprise.  You approach the town by driving up a hill, and then on the other side, you are greeted with a view of their famous landmark.

The view as you come over the hill into Perce, QC.

Our campground, Nature Ocean, was on the side of a hill and affords an ocean view in front to everyone, and a mountain view in back.  And the ocean breeze makes it unnecessary to use your air conditioning.

This is the view of Bonaventure Island from our campground.

We went on a boat ride to see the rock formation up closer.  They say at low tide you can walk over to the rocks, but you best mind the tides so that you don’t get stuck over there.

We took a boat ride around Perce rock and Bonaventure Island.

Even closer to Perce rock.

Then the boat circled Ile Bonaventure (Bonaventure Island).  It was such a surprise to see a bird sanctuary on the back side.  They told us that over 200,000 birds live there, and 110,000 of them are Northern Gannets.  There were so many birds perched and also flying about.

A closer look at the Northern Gannets at St Bonaventure Island,

There were also a few seals on the rocks and beach and swimming in the water.

That’s a seal (looks like a dog).  I’d like to take credit for this photo, but I can’t. We have some unbelievably good photographers on the tour.
