I got my wish… more art and nature (instead of war and killing). Today was a free day. They offered a bus ride into Washington, DC and dropped us off at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. I walked over to the Museum of Art. I thought it might be a good idea to join the 11am tour about rediscovering the Museum of Art. However, when he took us to the only Da Vinci in the building and spent 15 minutes of a 60 minute tour talking about it, I decided I wanted to see more than 4 pieces of art.
I only saw a small portion of this huge museum, and here are some of the paintings that caught my eye. Maybe they caught my eye because I recognized them, but I could see why they were popular because of their color and composition compared with the others.
I liked the color palette for the following painting. It would make for a peaceful bedroom.
I wonder if the artist got that dog to pose for this picture.
I love the expression on this girl’s face.
I headed back over to the Museum of Natural History to catch the bus back to the campground. One thing that’s different than any of my previous visits to DC was the food trucks. They lined the streets and were parked so close their bumpers touched. They were a rainbow of colors and sold mostly ice cream and bubble tea. Annoying.
We were in DC from 9am to 3pm. I walked 4-5 miles the last 4 days in a row, and am so sore and tired. I am looking forward to traveling tomorrow so that I can rest my legs. And I’m mentally tired as well.
